Safe Guarding & Compliance

Safeguarding Isn’t Just a Requirement. It’s Our Responsibility.

Children’s, Young and senior adult’s safety, dignity and wellbeing should never be compromised by staffing pressures. At Radian Group, our approach to recruitment is shaped by the safeguarding responsibilities, professional standards and individual needs of children’s residential care settings. We believe responsible staffing begins long before a worker arrives at a children’s home.

We recognize the trust providers place in recruitment agencies when introducing staff into their services. Children may have experienced trauma, disrupted attachments or difficulties building trusting relationships. Introducing an unfamiliar adult requires thoughtful consideration, accountability and appropriate preparation.

Because the Right Worker Makes All the Difference

Our recruitment approach is designed to consider qualifications, experience, professional conduct, safeguarding awareness and role-specific suitability

  • Safer Recruitment and Pre-Employment Screening

Employment gaps, concerns and suitability issues should be reviewed before placement. Urgency must never override required checks.

  • Trauma-Informed and Child-Centered Practice

Matching should consider relevant experience of trauma-informed and PACE-informed practice, autism, learning disabilities, emotional and behavioural needs and positive behaviour support where required. Specialist competence must be evidenced individually.

  • Placement-Specific Suitability

Before proposing a worker, we aim to understand role responsibilities, staffing arrangements, safeguarding expectations and required competencies. A candidate suitable for one home may not be suitable for another

  • Professional Boundaries and Accountability

Workers must understand confidentiality, safeguarding children’s privacy, professional boundaries and the
importance of following lawful care arrangements. They should work within their competence and raise concerns
when something appears unsafe.

  • Safeguarding Reporting and Escalation

Where required, matters must be referred to statutory services, including children’s social care, the LADO or police. Workers must not investigate allegations themselves or promise
confidentiality.

  • Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement

We aim to maintain appropriate records, seek feedback, respond to concerns, review suitability and improve recruitment practices. Concerns about conduct, performance or safeguarding should be assessed and addressed proportionately.

The Radian Group Difference
We Don’t Believe Staffing Should Be a Tick-Box Exercise. A vacancy may be urgent, but children’s needs remain the priority. The correct number of adults on shift does not by itself ensure suitable support. We focus on
safety, consistency and partnership through thoughtful worker matching and clear expectations

Our Approach to Regulatory Compliance
Radian Group recognises the importance of the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, the associated
Quality Standards, safeguarding guidance and applicable safer recruitment expectations.

As a staffing and recruitment business, we also recognise relevant employment business and data protection obligations. Agency workers must not be described as “Ofsted approved”. Radian Group supplies workers to existing providers and is not presented as the registered operator of those homes.
